The T-shirts that we ordered with the Club Logo came last week. The kids are bursting at the seams to get them. Some were so excited that they changed into their new shirts immediately after getting them. It's quite the thrill to be out in town and see them at random places.

On top of all of the other amazing news that we have had lately, we are blessed to know Keiven Trombley from Meemic. Keiven is helping us to purchase reward charm bracelets for our coders to give them goals they can work for. They are all super excited for this new facet of our club and appreciate the help we are receiving with this. Today we received word that not only will we be presenting at MACUL but we will also be part of the brand new Showcase Theater, networking with a variety of people and talking about Club. It's so exciting to be a part of yet another part of the MACUL experience.
We are super excited to pass along that we have been chosen to speak at MACUL in March of 2016 about the coding club. This amazing opportunity will include a lot of work as we prepare what we want to speak about and gather information from the club members as well as their creations and pictures. The shear amount of things that we need to get together right now is a little astounding but we are ready for the challenge. Hi ho, hi ho...
After going through all of the registrations, dividing into groups, sending out welcome letters, and enrolling all of the students, and getting past our first technical difficulties we are still in amazement at the wonderful reception the club is receiving. With 59 students registered, we are running two very full nights of coding. Students are enjoying the freedom of the new chromebooks as well as the challenge of the coding program. They are showing off what they can do for their friends and working hard to get things figured out. Some are even encouraging other friends to join. We don't know where we would put them all but their excitement is contagious.
It was our first week of Coding and it definitely was eventful. There were students pulsing with excitement to get started and unfortunate technical difficulties. We were able to start with an unplugged activity and were lucky enough to have cooperative student otherwise things could have gone very badly. We were also blessed to have a wonderful group of people working on our tech support team who tried multiple things to get us up and running correctly. Scarlett O'Hara would have said, "Tomorrow is another day." We will go with "Next week is another chance."
We are very excited to share that our grant proposal for the MACUL grant was accepted. We were 1 of 20 who received this grant from throughout the state. As part of this grant, the Coding Club will be purchasing 3 iPads for use in the club, with a primary focus being for our 3rd graders and physically disabled students. It is extremely exciting news that we are pleased to get to share.
