So I've decided to brave new ground and try a project out on Donors Choose. This is my first time ever doing it and let me just say that I didn't really understand what I was doing so after 1 week I took down the project and reposted it the way it should have been. So what is the project? Cubelets! It isn't often that students have the opportunity to learn in situations where the focus is not about finding a specific correct answer but rather the journey in discovering an end result. This project will allow my students to learn about different areas of math and science while having creativity and freedom. Sometimes the most rewarding answers are unintentional. Students will be able to use these snap together think, sense, and motion cubes to create robots as unique as a fingerprint. While they may be asked to design with a certain criteria in mind or to solve a given need, their combination and creations would be completely up to them. We currently have a very small set of Cubelets which can be used by only two students at a time. By purchasing these sets and individual blocks, everyone can be participating at the same time, allowing whole class participation and instruction. The additional types of blocks will also expand their construction range. With your help, their exploration possibilities are endless. I guess we will see what happens! Click here to read more and possibly help us fund the project.
